2024 NOMA Large Chapter of the Year!
Our Mission
NCNOMA is the North Carolina Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects. NCNOMA’s primary mission is to develop the growth of minority students, interns, architects, and educators in the field of architecture, as well as champion diversity within the design professions by promoting excellence, community engagement, and professional development of its members. The organization serves as an advocate for people of color through its engagement with equity and justice. NCNOMA will act as a source of guidance, leadership, and support; continuously striving for an inclusive and diverse architectural profession.
"I derive a tremendous amount of pride in developing places that everyday people can experience. I like to create beauty in everyday lives."
Phil Freelon - Architect
EDUCATE
We foster justice and equity in communities of color through outreach, community advocacy, design excellence, and professional development. This photo is from our "What is Architecture" event at the Durham Public Library in 2024.
CONNECT
We have events throughout the year that offer opportunities to connect with other professionals in your community and expand your network.
We also provide mentorship opportunities for professionals through the NEW TRUE NORTH MENTORSHIP PROGRAM!
INSPIRE
We provide opportunities to connect and inspire the next generation of Architects and design professionals through Project Pipeline and other local initiatives.
ADVOCATE
Since 2024, NCNOMA has participated in the annual National AIA Leadership Summit in Washington, DC. Chapter leaders spend a full day on Capitol Hill advocating for the interests of our profession.
